Loud Poets at Mirth, Marvel and Maud, London

  • Mirth Marvel and Maud 186 Hoe Street London, England, E17 4QH United Kingdom (map)

This is poetry for the masses!

This is poetry as you’ve never seen it!

The spoken Word Revolution!

This is slam-style, make some noise, fist-thumping, pint-drinking, side-tickling, heart-wrenching poetry.

Drawing on their diverse backgrounds in theatre, dance, music, and more, the poets perform a variety of original solo and multi-voice pieces showcasing the best spoken word has to offer. The poets are accompanied by live music from Scottish band Ekobirds, plus stunningvisuals and film titles from cinematographer Perry Jonsson.

In addition to its core cast of Scotland-based slam-winning performers Kevin Mclean, Katie Ailes, Catherine Wilson, and Doug Garry, the show also features a different guest every night, chosen from the best of the UK and international spoken word scenes.

Winners of the Prague Fringe New Territories Award 2016, award winner at the 2016 Saboteur Awards, and recommended by The Guardian: Loud Poets have been taking the UK spoken word scene by storm since 2013.

This is poetry as you’ve never seen it before. This is poetry for the masses. This is Loud Poets!

What they are saying

“These people are sensational performers, engaging effortlessly with the crowd … they are outspoken, human, and skillful. This is an act not to be missed.”

— Broadway Baby

“...the Loud Poets Fringe show is definitely pure entertainment and is probably the best performance poetry show on the Fringe.”

— TV Bomb

“Throughout there’s a humour; poignancy and most of all a confidence which serves to inspire.”

— The Scotsman

“The loudness doesn't always come from the volume of their voices . . . sometimes it comes from the heavy machinery they use to dig up their own hearts . . . to lay foundations for their monuments of compassion and other social medicine. Go listen to Loud Poets and hear them say the things you've been trying to say to yourself.”

— Shane Koyczan, world-renowned spoken word artist (2017)
